That is what visitors get: no editor running on every visit, no shortcodes buried in your content, no page weighed down by features you never used.

The canvas is not a preview or an approximation. Marfilo loads your actual page, with your theme, your fonts and your spacing, and paints the design inside it. What you drag is what gets published. It is a true visual builder and a WYSIWYG front end editor: you edit the page as your visitors will see it.

Most WordPress page builders send a runtime to every visitor so the page can be assembled in the browser. Marfilo assembles it once, when you press Publish, and stores the result, so your Core Web Vitals do not pay for the editor you used. Headers, footers, sidebars and floating bars are built with those same modules and that same canvas, which makes it a theme builder, a header builder and a footer builder as much as a page builder. Every module can be adjusted for tablet and mobile and styled on hover, without writing a line of CSS.

All 100+ modules ship with the plugin: no bundle to buy, no pro pack to unlock, nothing held back for a paid tier.

Why Marfilo

Visual builder, real canvas. You design on your real page, inside your real theme, not in a sandbox that looks roughly similar.

Publishes static HTML and CSS. The editor stays in the admin. Visitors download finished markup and one stylesheet.

Fast by design. No builder JavaScript on the front end for layout, so Largest Contentful Paint and Total Blocking Time stay low.

Page builder + theme builder in one. Landing pages, headers, footers, sidebars, pop-ups, side panels and mega menus, all on the same canvas.

Responsive controls. Desktop, tablet and mobile values for every module, plus hover styles.

No shortcode lock-in. An optional safety net copies your text, images and links into the page content, so your words stay in WordPress if you ever remove the plugin.

100+ modules, all free. Nothing is reserved for a pro version.

WooCommerce ready. Product pages, cart rows, mini cart and checkout pieces.

Five modules worth the install on their own

Post list — design one card, the site fills in the rest. Instead of picking a layout from a dropdown, you build a single card with whatever modules you like — image, title, date, excerpt, a button — and the site repeats it for every post, page, product or custom post type, filling in each one's own content. It reads custom fields too, so a property listing, a recipe index or a staff directory is laid out the same way as a blog roll. It works as a post grid, a custom post type grid and a loop builder in one. The same idea drives blog templates, category archives and WooCommerce product pages: design it once, every entry uses it.

Mega menu — a menu that opens a real page. Menu items can open a wide mega dropdown panel holding several columns of links, headings and a promotional photo, all designed with the usual modules on the usual canvas. It is what a shop with forty categories needs and what a plain dropdown cannot do, and it is built here rather than in a separate mega menu plugin. On mobile it folds into a hamburger menu.

Before and after — two photos, one handle. An image comparison slider: drag the divider across to compare a retouch, a renovation, a treatment or a paint job. It works on touch, it needs no configuration beyond the two images, and it is the module that sells a portfolio page on its own.

360 viewer — a product the visitor spins. A 360 product viewer for 360 product rotation: feed it a sequence of photos taken around an object, usually 24 or 36, and the visitor spins it by dragging. It can rotate on its own until somebody touches it. For furniture, jewellery, machinery and anything a single photo undersells.

Photo with hotspots — a picture that explains itself. Image hotspots on any photo: mark any point of an image and attach a title, a description, a price and a link. Hovering a dot opens its bubble. Used for shoppable images, interior shots, floor plans, diagrams, image maps and product features, and it turns one photo into a small catalogue.

100+ Visitors receive static HTML, a single stylesheet and one small script that wakes interactive modules such as tabs, the accordion or the 360 viewer only where they appear. There is no layout engine to download, no nested wrapper divs generated in the browser and no shortcode parsing on each visit. That is what makes Marfilo a lightweight page builder: the weight stays in the editor, not on your front end.

Live demos and documentation

Demo 1: marfilo.com/mochi — every page, header, footer and menu in the demos is made with this plugin.

Demo 2: marfilo.com/vektor

Demo 3: marfilo.com/showcase

Support: WordPress.org support forum

External services

Marfilo never checks for its own updates and calls nothing home on its own. Modules that embed a video, a map or an external file contact whoever hosts them, and only if you place such a module and fill in its address.

Freemius (api.freemius.com, wp.freemius.com)

Marfilo uses the Freemius SDK to ask you, once, whether you want to share basic information about your site and whether you want to hear about new releases. Nothing is sent unless an administrator opts in, declining leaves every feature working exactly the same, and the question is not asked again.

If you opt in, this is sent on acceptance and when the plugin is later activated, deactivated or uninstalled: the site address, the name and email address of the administrator who accepted, the WordPress, PHP and Marfilo versions, the site language, and whether the site is a local install. Only for the permissions left ticked on that screen, it also sends the list of active plugins and themes and basic diagnostic data; each can be left off.

Marketing is a separate tick box, "Newsletter", on the same screen: it is what allows news, announcements and marketing about Marfilo and other products from its author, and accepting the opt-in does not grant it. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and deactivating Marfilo stops anything being sent.

Freemius privacy policy – Opt-in terms

In your WordPress admin go to Plugins → Add New, search for Marfilo and click Install Now, then Activate.

Or upload the
marfilo
folder to
/wp-content/plugins/
and activate it on the Plugins screen.

Open any page and click Edit with Marfilo, or start from one of the included page and section templates.

Drag modules onto the canvas, adjust them for desktop, tablet and mobile, and press Publish.

To build a header, footer, sidebar or mega menu, open Marfilo → Where things show and choose where each part is shown.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Everything is done by dragging modules and filling in fields. Marfilo is a landing page builder, a sales page builder and a squeeze page builder, and every one of those pieces is a module you drag, not a template you fight. Launch pages, lead capture pages, webinar pages and coming soon pages are built the same way.

Headers, footers and navigation. A header builder and a footer builder in the same tool: logo, navigation menu with a mobile hamburger menu, mega menu, search box, mini cart, announcement bar above it all, and a sticky header that follows the scroll. Plus sidebars, slide-out side panels, an off canvas menu, a floating WhatsApp button, a back to top button and a reading progress bar. Build one header and reuse it sitewide, or give one landing page a stripped header of its own.

Online shops. A WooCommerce page builder for product pages, cart and checkout: the checkout comes apart into billing, shipping, order summary, payment and coupon so you can lay it out instead of accepting the default form. Design one cart row and the site repeats it per product. Add a mini cart that updates without a reload, breadcrumbs, trust badges, a shoppable image with hotspots, a 360 product viewer and an image magnifier for fabric and detail shots.

Blogs, magazines and portfolios. A post grid and post list builder that reads any custom post type and any custom field, with a table of contents built from the page headings, a reading progress bar, related content, comments, next and previous links, and share buttons. For portfolios: an image gallery with lightbox, an image accordion, a before and after slider, a Lottie animation player, an animated SVG path that draws itself and an image that scrolls inside its frame.

Local business sites. Opening hours with today highlighted, a price list for a restaurant menu or a salon, an event calendar grouped by month, a Google Maps or OpenStreetMap map, a contact form delivered by email with anti-spam, a team section with photos and social links, a world clock for several time zones and an age verification gate for alcohol and tobacco shops.

Real estate, interiors and products. Photos with hotspots for floor plans and room details, a 360 viewer for furniture and products, a before and after slider for renovations, a post list that reads property custom fields, and a PDF viewer for brochures and catalogues.

I am coming from another builder. What changes?

If you have used another drag and drop builder, the canvas will feel familiar: sections, rows, columns and modules, drag and drop, responsive controls per device and hover styling. The difference is what leaves the editor. Marfilo is a no-code website builder that publishes static HTML and CSS, plus one small script for interactive modules, instead of shipping the editor to every visitor. It is also a Gutenberg alternative for whole-page layout, a WYSIWYG front end editor, and a drag and drop website builder that does not lock your content behind shortcodes: remove the plugin and an optional safety net leaves your text, images and links in WordPress.

1.0.4

Export a single page with its images and, if you want, the site header and footer: “Export this page” offers a .json with only the design or a .zip that carries just the media files that page uses. Importing that .zip uploads the images the new site does not have yet and points the page at them. A header and footer inside the file are only imported after asking, because they replace the header and footer of the whole site; once imported they show on the canvas right away, without reloading the editor.

Right-click menu on sections, rows and modules in the canvas, with the same actions as the floating toolbar (settings, insert before or after, move, duplicate, save to the library, delete). From a module it also reaches the row and the section that hold it. Shift + right-click, or right-clicking while typing, keeps the browser’s own menu.

The editor opens on the last page you worked on (or the site’s front page, or the first page) instead of the first document in the list, which was often the slow blog listing template.

New “Custom fields of this page” window in the editor’s ☰ menu: see, add, change or remove the fields that {{field.…}} tags read, without switching the page to the WordPress editor. It lists first the fields the page, its header and its footer use, even when they are still empty, and the canvas updates as soon as they are saved. It shows a loading indicator while it reads them.

An exported page now carries the custom fields its dynamic tags read (for example a language button in the header), and importing writes them on the page it lands on. When the page came from another address, the importer offers to use that same address: links between pages keep working, but the page that already has that address is replaced and published.

Fix: a column set to stay fixed while scrolling now stays put when it also has a vertical alignment.

Fix: a page exported and imported again no longer fails when one of its modules has an empty style for a part.

Fix: the table of contents no longer lists the headings of the site header, footer or sidebars.

Fix: a page that has never been published is edited on its own canvas instead of inside the theme’s page template (with the theme’s header, title and narrow column) until its first publish.

Fix: after updating the plugin, the canvas no longer keeps an old copy of the editor styles cached by the browser or the host (new menus came out unstyled).

Fix: in the editor, a {{field.…}} tag with a fallback shows the fallback when the page has no value, as the site does, instead of the raw tag.

Fix: with the WordPress menu shown from the editor, its submenus open above the editor instead of behind it.

Fix: the canvas fills the editor to the bottom; a light strip no longer shows under the page.

Clearer icons for exporting the page, exporting the whole site and importing, so the three buttons are told apart at a glance.

New page: the “+ New” window now asks for the page name, and the slug follows it as you type (you can still edit it). Before, the page was named after its slug.

1.0.3

12 new modules: Glitch text, Shuffle letters, Animated gradient text, Image-filled text, Block reveal text, Block reveal image, Tilt image, Blob shape image, Floating images, Random image, Image hover reveal and Shape.

3 new full-page templates, one per live demo: the warm editorial Showcase, Vektor (a dark tech launch) and Mochi (a playful neo-brutalist page). Vektor and Mochi use every module and Showcase 83; each ships with image placeholders and no third-party content.

Post list can now be shown as a carousel, with arrows, dots, autoplay and slides per view on mobile.

Text that types itself gains hand-drawn highlights (box, strike-through, marker, brackets), and Title gains outline and accent highlight styles.

New floating layer: pop-ups, the age gate, dot navigation and fixed buttons live in their own place, added from a dedicated button in the editor. You can select, show, hide or delete them there, and a module left in the page flow shows where it belongs.

Fix: the canvas no longer flickers or loads twice when you open a page or switch to another one, and reloading the editor keeps the page you were editing.

Fix: the library closes once a template is applied, and its style filter is translated.

The site importer can now bring SVG drawings into the media library: each file is rewritten keeping only what draws (no scripts, event attributes or outside references) before it is stored. It is only open to users who can already save designs, and an SVG that is not a clean drawing is refused with a message.

Fix: the site importer no longer reports a file as failed when the server accepted it but printed a notice before its answer, and any problems are listed in a window grouped by reason instead of one long message.

Fix: a column's vertical alignment (top, middle, bottom) now takes effect.

Fix: code blocks with line numbers no longer show a blank line between lines.

Fix: the sticky video returns to its place when you jump back up the page.

Fix: the mini cart button no longer wraps onto two lines when it shows a count, and the mega menu panel no longer overflows the screen.

1.0.2

Template and theme previews now use the same renderer and styles as published desktop pages, scale to the available space, and preserve the page's real proportions.

Readme: expanded description, clickable live demo link, installation steps, more FAQ and screenshot captions.

1.0.1

The page and section templates now ship entirely in English: about a hundred buttons, labels, table headings and captions were still in Spanish.

1.0.0

Initial release.

Visual drag and drop page builder with 100+ modules: landing pages, headers, footers, mega menus and 360 viewers, published as fast static HTML.
["GET
